The nearest tube station is Holborn, to the north, but buses are plentiful. If you travel slightly further north still, at the junction of Southampton Row and Vernon Place, you can see the disused northern entrance of the Kingsway Tramway subway - a tunnel that was originally built in 1902 to connect the North and South London Tram systems.
