'Shell'ebrate the snail! This year National Escargot Day is on Thursday 24th May

Yes, it's crawled around again - this year National Escargot Day is on May 24th and to celebrate this momentous occasion Café Rouge will be dishing up a special escargot dish served with garlic, ham and mushrooms.

Just so you know, there are 116 varieties of edible snails, of which the handpicked Helix Pomatia or "Très Gros" is proclaimed to be the best. Nicknamed the "Land Lobster" on account of its delicate flavour and texture, this variety proved a hit when served up in Café Rouge restaurants last year.
